Today I went to the Black Hat Sessions 2017 in Ede (NL). I must say that the overall quality of the sessions was a bit less appealing than last year, but there was some interesting stuff out there. Especially the keynote by Bill Cheswick on the subject of “data”, and a session by Duncan Campbell called “A century of data stealing”, gave me a lot food for thought. The first victims of the new owner of Vancis (a Dutch cloud company) have fallen? Investors … I never know what to think of them. Our society relies too much on them, that’s for sure. 19 people laid off. That is just one short of a complex redundancy procedure. Coincidence? I think it’s just a way of doing business. I wish all the people fired luck finding a respectful employer.
